Setting goals gives you direction and purpose in your life and helps you to feel inspired and motivated every single day.
In order to ensure you can carry out the goals in your life and see them to fruition, you must create habits that you incorporate into your routine.
Here are 10 habits we think you try out to improve your quality of life.
1. Read more books
There are so many amazing books out there that can help enrich your life.
Reading fictional books can take you to whole new worlds and help you use your imagination, whereas non-fiction and self-care books can completely change your mindset and help you level up your life. We suggest getting into the habit of reading for a least 15 minutes everyday.
Some of our CEO’s fave girl books books are listed here.
2. Create a morning and evening routine
Feel like you’re just surviving? Adding routine to your life helps you to not only survive but thrive. Having little things that you do every morning and night give your brain signals that you are transitioning into another part of your day and in turn will prepare your body for what’s to come next.
A great way to start implementing these routines is by writing down what your ideal morning or night routine looks like. You may want to have a cup of tea, light a candle, workout or take a nice shower. Listing out everything you want to do in the morning and evening gives you something to look forward to when you wake up, as well as help you to unwind at night.
3. Take care of your skin
Having a skincare routine is a lovely act of self-care that can help you to feel confident. Show your skin some love with quality ingredients, and we’re not just talking about the skin on your face. So many times we forget about the rest of our body.
Try adding in an extra step such as a body scrub, foot soak or using a moisturizing soap, which can do wonders for the rest of the skin on your body. Taking the extra time to show your skin some love is something that should definitely be on your to-do list.
4. Take mental health breaks
Something we always neglect is taking time to relax our minds and to just “catch ourselves”. Being in the moment, and being present and mindful of what we’re doing and our intentions, are essential to living a fulfilled life.
Put yourself and your mental health first. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Everyone needs time to relax, unwind and check-in with themselves. By doing this regularly, you will become the best version of yourself and in turn, can really show up in your life and the lives of others.
Simple things like journaling at the end of the day or even just sitting in silence for 5 minutes before you start a task can do wonders for your brain function and improve your quality of life.
5. Spend time outside
We get so caught up in being indoors and don’t even realize it. When was the last time that you actually saw the sunset, blue skies or flowers in bloom?
Try going for walks on your lunch break, or early in the morning or afternoon. You can even sit outside in your backyard or porch just to get some fresh air and a change of scenery. It’s small habits like these that can make a huge difference.
6. Cook and try new recipes
Nourishing your body is super important so why not make it a habit to do it for yourself. There are so many recipes on Pinterest and Youtube that are completely free for you to browse and try. Check out this video for some inspiration.
Cooking for yourself allows you to know exactly what is being put in your food and helps you to monitor your eating habits to ensure that you are giving your body the best fuel it needs. It doesn’t have to be every single day, but maybe try at least once a week to make something nourishing.
7. Take your vitamins
Most times, even if you are cooking for yourself and ensuring that you supply your body with lots of good foods, you still don’t always get the correct amount of nutrition. This can take a toll on your body and make you feel tired and exhausted all the time.
There are many supplements out there so do some research or consult your doctor to find one that’s a right fit for you.
8. Wake up earlier
There’s a reason why “the early bird catches the worm” is such a popular saying- it’s because there’s some sense to it. The days seem so much longer and more productive when you wake up earlier because you end up having so much “extra” time you didn’t realize you had before.
Even as little as an extra fifteen minutes can make such an impactful difference. Struggling with waking up early? You can ease into this new habit by waking up five minutes earlier every day until you reach the ideal time you would like to wake up. You can fit so much into that extra time you now have and really get a start on your day.
9. Say affirmations
We become what we say and we receive what we attract. If you make it a habit to feed yourself negative words, you become a negative person. Negative self-talk is so detrimental to our emotional well being and should not be taken lightly.
You must affirm who you are, who you want to be and what you will receive. If you picture yourself in the position you want to be and affirm this in your life in the present, then nothing is impossible. Our minds are a powerful tool. Make sure that you use it to make your life the best it can be.
Start off by telling yourself three affirmations in the morning. This can range from sayings such as “I am beautiful” to “I am respected, loved and valued”. Whatever you want to affirm in your life, say it. Then let us know if this works for you too.
10. Create a workout routine
Our physical health is such an important part of our emotional and mental wellbeing and should be treated as such. Taking even 15 minutes out of your day to do a quick HIIT workout does wonders for your health and you will never regret it.
